fridgely ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our household inventory management application.

  • Account Information: Email address, password (hashed), name, phone number (optional)
  • Profile Information: Dietary restrictions, allergies, health preferences
  • Inventory Data: Food items, quantities, expiration dates, storage locations
  • Shopping Lists: Items, categories, checked status
  • Recipes: Saved recipes, meal plans, cooking notes
  • Photos: Images uploaded for product recognition (processed and deleted after analysis)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: Features used, pages visited, actions taken
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, error logs
  • Cookies: Session cookies for authentication and preferences

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Barcode Data: Product information from Open Food Facts database
  • OAuth Providers: Basic profile information if you sign in with Google

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process and manage your account
  • Send notifications about expiring items and low stock
  • Provide customer support
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. How We Share Your Information

4.1 Household Members

If you share your household with other users, they can view and modify shared inventory, shopping lists, and household settings. Your personal account settings and health profile remain private unless you choose to share them.

4.2 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who assist in operating our Service:

  • Cloud Hosting: PostgreSQL database hosting
  • Payment Processing: Stripe (for paid subscriptions)
  • AI Services: OpenAI, Google Cloud Vision (for photo recognition)
  • Email Services: Resend (for notifications)
  • Analytics: Usage analytics for product improvement

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

4.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

5. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active
  • Deleted Accounts: Data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Photos: Processed immediately and deleted after analysis (not stored)
  • Logs: System logs retained for up to 90 days
  • Backups: Backups retained for up to 30 days

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest
  • Password hashing using bcrypt
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure cloud infrastructure

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Export

You can access and export your data at any time through the Settings > Export Data feature in the app.

7.2 Correction

You can update your account information and inventory data directly in the app.

7.3 Deletion

You can delete your account through Settings > Account > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your data within 30 days.

7.4 Notification Preferences

You can control notification settings through Settings > Notifications, including quiet hours and notification types.

7.5 Cookies

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect the functionality of the Service.

8. Children's Privacy

fridgely is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
