Terms of service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using fridgely ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

fridgely is a household inventory management application that helps users track food items, manage expiration dates, create shopping lists, and reduce food waste. The Service is available as a web application and progressive web app (PWA).

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your account password and for any activities or actions under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.

3.3 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the account settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Subscription and Payments

4.1 Free and Paid Plans

fridgely offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans provide additional features as described on our pricing page.

4.2 Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All payments are processed securely through our payment provider (Stripe).

4.3 Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. Refund requests after this period will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

4.4 Price Changes

We may modify subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect current billing periods.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any data you submit to the Service, including inventory items, recipes, shopping lists, and other content ("User Content").

5.2 License to Us

By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

5.3 Data Export

You may export your data at any time through the account settings. We provide exports in standard formats (CSV, JSON).

6. Household Sharing

fridgely allows you to share your household with other users. By inviting someone to your household, you grant them access to view and modify shared inventory, shopping lists, and other household data. You are responsible for managing household member access.

7. AI and Third-Party Services

The Service uses artificial intelligence for features like photo recognition and product identification. These features are provided "as is" and may not always be accurate. We use third-party services including OpenAI, Google Cloud Vision, and Open Food Facts. Use of these features is subject to the respective third-party terms.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the Service to store or transmit malicious content

9. Disclaimers

9.1 No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF PRODUCT INFORMATION, EXPIRATION DATES, OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT.

9.2 Health and Safety

fridgely is not a substitute for proper food safety practices. Always use your own judgment regarding food safety. Allergy alerts are provided as a convenience but should not be solely relied upon for medical decisions.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FRIDGELY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
